Technical Writer

Epistemix empowers leaders to make better decisions. Organizations use our simulation software platform to manage risk, fight infectious disease, improve disaster response, adapt to climate change, compare strategies across scenarios, and better understand the people they seek to serve.

We are seeking a senior technical writer to enable us to reach thousands of new users. You will work with our engineering and data-science teams to maintain and enhance technical and product documentation. You will also be expected to learn the software and work on building training and educational modules with our platform education and training team.

Responsibilities

  • Create, review, edit, and publish documentation and in-line help for our modeling language and platform.
  • Use, test, and otherwise provide feedback on Epistemix software tools and products.
  • Work closely with software engineers and data scientists to review and update code comments and documentation.
  • Develop or assist with virtual training, online tutorials, and other educational content.
  • Create, edit, and maintain inline API documentation in code.
  • Support, champion, and collaborate on company-wide documentation and marketing standards, styles, and templates.
  • Review and enhance marketing and sales materials, research reports, and other deliverables produced by company staff.
  • Actively discuss, design, and implement new ideas in close collaboration with other members of the Epistemix team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Writing or a related field. Equivalent industry experience will be considered in lieu of education.
  • Minimum 5 years in a hands-on technical writing role working with cloud-based software.
  • Preferred 8 years related work experience, using appropriate technology and in support of scientific research, data analytics, or other complex data-driven problem spaces.
  • Preferred experience providing technical / documentation leadership and mentoring on team-based projects.
  • Proficiency developing training and videos for highly technical systems.
  • Proficiency documenting cutting-edge software and APIs running in a cloud environment.
  • Preferred proficiency with modeling or simulation software and jargon.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and creativity.
  • Ability to complete milestones and work toward multiple deadlines.
